IMPORTANT INFORMATION – due to a course software situation – all SmartDrive U students will be enrolled in the SmartDrive Classic program. We and our partners at Wilmington University did not want to further delay your access to this program for post-secondary and graduate students. Thank you for your understanding.
While the text surrounding the content in SmartDrive Classic is geared toward high school students, the core content is compliant with State of Delaware requirements for a Motor Vehicle Accident Prevention Program (Defensive Driving – BASIC – link opens in a new tab) and will provide you with certification that you have completed a BASIC Defensive Driving program, as well as the privileges accord to enrollees who complete this course as provided under the Delaware Code. The key requirement of the SmartDrive U course is engagement. To obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate, enrollees must stay engaged in the materials for a total of six hours. The program is presented in three two-hour lessons to meet that requirement. Each topic with the lessons uses a timer that will not allow you to advance until the engagement requirement is met.
